THE LAUNCH OF THE 'NK)SO) MANIFESTO'
Primarily, the manifesto launch of every political party is centred on addressing the general public on the policies, capabilities and means of achieving growth to develop a country. The PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, (PDP), a simulated political party by L300 Political Communication Group four students of the Ghana Institute of Journalism(G.I.J.), launched its "NKOSO) MANIFESTO" on Tuesday, 9th March 2021, on the GIJ campus . The event was attended by the Flagbearer and his running mate, executive members of the political party, loyal members of the party, some teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution and members of the public with an interest in education and politics. The launch provided a platform for the PDP to share its position on how and why it would work towards the growth and development of Ghana.
The Manifesto launch of the Progressive Democratic Party started at 10:00 am prompt on the attributed date with an opening prayer from a loyal member of the party. Designed to make the congregation feel more at ease and active, an informal session was led by the host to rekindle the flame in the house and to remind people of this great political party.
Prior to the creation of the political party and the roles of its executive members, the executive members of the party delivered speeches on their responsibilities towards the progress of the Party and urged the gathering to stay glued to the party, promising them the best of governance in their reign. The speeches of the competent executives' members were also based on the purpose of transparency and accountability to the people.
Climaxing the event, the much anticipated 'NKOSO) MANIFESTO' was presented to the gathering by the party Chairman, Mr Michael Darko. The manifesto was then covered and unveiled by the party executives and the flagbearer amidst noise and jubilation.
The Nk)so) manifesto has many policies of the Progressive Democratic Party including "Know your tourist sites" and "obia ka ho" policies.
In a nutshell, electoral manifestos play a crucial role in visions of party democracy and political science analyses of party competition. This article identifies three campaign-related functions of the PDP's 'NKOSO) manifesto': it provides a compendium of valid party positions, streamlines the party's campaign, and used as campaign material. Based on the characteristics of our Presidential candidate: Emmanuel Dose, the party, and it's campaign message, the PDP derives an expectation of acceptance by the general public, and attributing credibility, competence, possibility and truthfulness to their 'NKOSO) MANIFESTO'.
