Campaign/ COVID-19 sensitisation Walk
Members of the Progressive Democratic Party on Monday 9th March 2020 embarked on a campaign walk which to inform the general public of the party's policies and vision for the country. The campaign walk was merged with a COVID sensitisation agenda in order to educate the general public on the need to stay healthy and the need to take the COVID-19 vaccine.
The starting point of the walk was Ghana Institute of Journalism campus and strictly by invitation with all COVID-19 safety protocols were duly adhered to.
Our main area of focus of the campaign was Jamestown, a fishing community in Accra where we met and spoke to many residents and fishermen.
A political party's message is very important to persuade the people to obtain their votes. Progressive Democratic Party, as a party with a social democratic or left-wing ideology, our most important message to the people was a promise of progress, equality and development. Our Flagbearer and running mate, Emmanuel Dose and Sally Opoku had personal discussions with the residents during our campaign walk and presented them with the vision of the party and their strategic plan to ensure development for everybody in the country.
As a party that cares, members of the Progressive Democratic Party provided every resident and fishermen we spoke with nose masks and hand sanitisers to ensure protection against COVID-19. We also educated them on the need to take the
COVID-19 vaccine even though some residents expressed their unwillingness to take the vaccine due to conspiracy theories hovering around it.
Residents of Jamestown were very welcoming during our campaign walk and received our message warmly. Some fishermen had a dance out session with our flagbearer and running mate amidst jubilation over our message of hope and progress.
The Progressive Democratic Party is a party for the people, a party that believes in the power of development and progress.
Our campaign and COVID-19 sensitisation Walk generally successful and our message was effectively communicated to the people of James Town.
