BUILDING A VIVID POLITICAL IMAGE IN THE MINDS OF GHANAIANS



There are many indicators that political brands are of considerable significance for voting decisions. In essence, the importance of branding for voting decisions on the part of the citizens derives from the party's branding functions, such as orientation aid in the form of an “information chunk” or risk-reduction function in the sense of a confidence surrogate.

Based on the fact that brand management constitutes a central challenge for the marketing of political parties, it is appropriate to investigate what approach seems best in managing political brands and how these approaches should be formulated.

Because of this, the Progressive Democratic Party's branding included branded souvenirs: books, pens, t-shirts, mugs, caps and nose masks, party vehicles, amongst others. It was not limited to, logos, colours, fonts, jingles, phrases, graphics or other images. These souvenirs and party properties were frequently used by members of the party, and also appeared on our blog site and social media platforms, which served as political advertisements communications and to remind Ghanaians of the party. 

These forms of branding were aimed at creating a lasting impression in the minds of Ghanaians, and to contribute a positive storied history in politics as a whole and Ghanaian politics in particular. 

On the whole, we deployed these branding methods to make the party easy to be recognized and establish long-lasting memories of the Progressive Democratic Party in the minds of voters.
